A fine playing guitar and a staff favorite! Solid spruce top, solid mahogany back, sides and neck. Slotted headstock with original tuners, rosewood fret board and bridge. This is a 12 fret guitar with a 24-3/4" scale and a nut width of (just shy of) 1-7/8". This wider nut width and its warm tone make it particularly nice for fingerpicking. Set up to Martin specs, with action at the 12th fret of 7/64" low E, 5/64" high E. It is strung with Silk & Steel strings which we think are the perfect fit for this guitar. The height of the saddle above the bridge is 5/64" which leaves it a little room for future lowering, but not much. The neck is quite close to straight, with a very desirable and rather subtle forward bow. Fret wear is very light, not far from minimal. Cosmetically this instrument is in very fine condition for a 51 year old guitar--very minor dings and scuffs; there is one tight separation at the top seam just below the bridge which has been professionally sealed in our shop with fish glue. (see picture). Ships with a molded Martin hardshell case.
